Gemma Attiwell has been employed as Business Development Manager, and will focus on developing new and existing customers across the independent trade market. Gemma has a strong, 10-year background in working with the locksmith market, as well as various other trade customers from her previous employer Avocet Hardware. Simon Kasperowicz has been taken on as Business Development Manager for the North, appointed to develop the use of the Yale and UNION brands into the local authority/social housing repair and maintenance market. Simon has a wealth of experience he brings from working for Travis Perkins and Jewsons over a 15-year career. Andy Hudson has been recruited as Territory Manager for the Southwest, looking after independent hardware customers and builders’ merchants, as well as locksmiths. Andy comes with 20 years experience in the field, previously working for HG International. In addition, Dave Hedley has been taken on as Business Development Manager for the South, and will also be developing the Yale and UNION brands into the local authority/social housing repair and maintenance market. Dave has worked in sales for 35 years, with previous brands including Wolseley UK. AVOCET’S DESIGNER APPOINTMENT Avocet Hardware has appointed Paul Collins as its product design and implementation manager. 76 MAR/APR 2014 The Brighouse-based business, which recently announced a further £2.1million investment from its owners, The Jain family, created the position in order to boost the company’s product development capabilities at a time when it is pushing to firmly re-establish its position as the leading player in the home window and door security market. Dr Tinkle Jain, a director of Avocet, said: “Product design and development is a vital element of our strategy to position Avocet at the forefront the market and Paul’s extensive industry experience placed him head and shoulders above any other candidate.” Collins, 51, from Halifax, has worked in the hardware industry since 1984, when he joined Colchester-based Titon Hardware as a design draftsman. He spent 13-years as a design engineer with Avocet from 1992 to 2005 prior to leaving for a technical field engineer’s role in Peterborough with IFI.
