PUTTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT ON ICAL
In the last issue of The
Locksmith journal, we
referred to a survey
on insurance for auto
locksmiths, which referred to
ICL and ICAL.
‘A totally seperate
organisation from ICAL’
This, in fact should only have
referred to ICL, the Institute of
Certified Locksmiths.
ICAL (the Institute of Auto
Locksmiths) has not been
established as yet, although
plans are in the pipeline to do
this hopefully further down the
year. It will be a totally separate
organisation from ICAL.
Richard Breslin, owner
of Garrison Locks and
needalocksmith.com, aims
to launch ICAL as soon as his
business schedules permit.
Richard’s multi-faceted
business which keeps him
very busy, is based in Market
Harborough, Leicestershire.
“We just want to put the
record straight,” he said. “I
still plan to launch ICAL
because I still believe there is
a need for it in the industry, so
when I have a timeline on it,
I will let people know via The
Locksmith journal and our
websites.”

NEW GOVERNMENT SUPPORT TO ENCOURAGE
MANUFACTURING PRODUCTION BACK TO UK
UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) has joined
forces with the Manufacturing Advisory
Service (MAS) to launch Reshore UK,
a new one-stop-shop service to help
companies bring production back to the
UK.
UK companies are increasingly looking to
reshore manufacturing, textiles, software
production and call centre work to the UK
instead of outsourcing overseas. Dri ving
this is a combination of a strong, stable
economy, competitive corporate tax rates, a
good regulatory environment, strong legal
frameworks and a dynamic labour market.
UKTI has identified 1,500 manufacturing
jobs reshored in the UK since 2011 and a
MAS survey shows companies citing costs,
quality and reducing lead times as the top 3
reasons for moving production back to the
UK.
Reshore UK will provide a matching
and location service, access to advice and
support and a named individual to help
each company. MAS’s role is to help support
small and medium sized businesses to be
