ACCESS CONTROL Creating safe spaces with hands free access » WHILE REMAINING OPEN TO supply essential markets in the Republic of Ireland, RSPL recognised the urgent need to implement new safety measures to protect customers and staff. To help mitigate the risk of infection at its Dublin premises, RSPL set out to use a mix of automated access control technologies to create a safer, hands free environment. To achieve this, RSPL approached security experts Abloy UK to supply automatic door operators to give visitors hands free access and egress. The specification links with the building’s access control and door entry system to ensure that staff and visitors can access the building and collect supplies safely. The automated doors work in conjunction with face recognition technology, temperature screening cameras, a visitor density control system, and ‘no-touch’ door releases. All of this technology combines to give visitors to the premises the safest experience possible. The new compliant system includes the Abloy DA460 electrotechnical swing door operator, complete with DA147 push arm and DA103 mounting plate. To achieve automation these are supplemented by the EL520 motor lock, DA460 lock controller, EA280 door loop, CY326-VL single cylinder and 60-0119-SSS lever handles. Pat Jefferies, Commercial Director at Abloy UK, said: “Automated access control has existed for a long time, but it’s understandably never been more important or in demand. I believe hands free solutions like this will undoubtedly become more commonplace as we all seek to find a new normal. “Door automation is a simple measure that businesses can introduce to help protect their customers and employees, and anything that helps a company continue its operations while reducing the risk of infection is welcome.” Dermot Breslin, Product Development and Training Manager at RSPL, said: “Our security products are installed in hospitals, pharmacies and supermarkets, so our doors have to stay open. Because of this, we decided to make our building as hands-free as possible for everyone’s safety. “We also felt this was an important opportunity to showcase best practice to our visitors, demonstrating how they in turn can use similar solutions in their premises to give confidence to their own customers.” For more information please email [email protected] CODELOCKS WIFI GATEWAY DELIVERS ENHANCED REMOTE ACCESS CONTROL » CODELOCKS NEWLY-RELEASED WIFI Gateway offers the next level of control and convenience to smart lock users. One WiFi Gateway allows a user to control up to four compatible Codelocks Smart Locks from any WiFi connected mobile device. WiFi Gateway by Codelocks works in conjunction with the K3 Connect App, giving the user extended range and enhanced functionality. Remote smart access control features include locking and unlocking, programming, client management, NetCode generation and more. Until the arrival of the WiFi Gateway, users would need to control Codelocks Smart Locks individually using the K3 App on a Bluetooth enabled device. The device would therefore need to be within range of each individual lock while performing app functions. WiFi Gateway by Codelocks offers a more convenient way to manage small numbers of smart locks by connecting to them over a WiFi network. To control more than four locks, or control locks over a wider area, users can simply add additional WiFi Gateways as required. The remote features enabled by the WiFi Gateway and K3 Connect App include: • Unlocking locks • Setting lock parameters and access restriction • Managing users’ access through phone, card and code • Generating NetCodes • Retrieving audit information • Receiving lock event notifications • Checking locks’ current status Colin Campbell, Managing Director at Codelocks said, “WiFi Gateway is the perfect solution for small businesses that are looking for a convenient way to manage their smart locks. By extending the range of the K3 Connect App and enabling enhanced remote capability, it gives administrators the ability to effectively manage and control connected locks without having to leave their desks”. Measuring just 50mm x 41mm x 15mm, WiFi Gateway by Codelocks is powered by a USB type A connector and can support a maximum of four locks within a range of 5 metres. To run the K3 Connect App, smart devices must be running either Android version 4.3+ or an iPhone running iOS 10.0+. The new WiFi Gateway is ideal for businesses that are already using multiple Codelocks Smart Locks and looking to unlock the next level of convenient access control. codelocks.co.uk 30 JUL/AUG 2020 locksmithjournal.co.uk Issue Takeover Magazine Sponsor
