OUTDOOR SECURITY & PADLOCKS
WITH BIKE THEFT ON THE INCREASE, YALE
HELPS KEEP CYCLISTS MOVING FORWARD
» » BIKE THEFT IS A PERSISTENT
problem in the UK, it was recently
reported by the ONS, that there has been
an 8% increase in overall theft offences,
of which were predominantly driven by
a 23% increase in theft from outside a
home*. The crime of bike theft is driven
by the fact that stealing a bike can be
very quick and easy, especially when
located outside of a home. The Yale bike
lock range is designed to help combat
the number of bike thefts in the UK by
encouraging people to lock it rather than
lose it.
The new Yale Bike Lock product range
includes; cable locks, chain locks and
U-lock solutions, which have all been
designed with the highest bike security in
mind.
The new range of U-locks are designed
to help protect against any bumps or hits,
helping to ensure bicycles are kept looking
their best. Additionally, the heavy duty
cross-bar of the U-lock provide maximum
pull protection making it resistant to cuts
and impacts.
Cable locks feature tough coatings on
both the cable and swedging, ensuring long
lasting durability and protection for users.
Stephen Roberts, Marketing Manager
for Yale UK said “Bike theft is an
increasing problem in the UK and a
problem which we hope to tackle with
our new range of bike locks. There are
many different reasons for people to use
bikes and we hope this new range will
encourage more people to get out on their
bikes, without the concern of their bike
being stolen.
“We’re excited to add this range to
our security portfolio. All the high and
maximum security bike locks are sold
secure approved for added peace of
mind.”
Whether people are using their bikes
for recreation, daily commute to work
or school or just to keep fit and healthy,
they can rest assured that Yale’s new
security measures will keep them moving
forward.

Keeping Our Pets Safe
» » NEARLY 1,000* DOGS
were stolen from homes
and gardens in the last year,
research obtained through
a Freedom of Information
request to the Police by Dogs
Trust revealed, making them
the UK’s hotspot for dog
theft. In 2018, 661 dogs were
reported stolen from the home
and 314 from the garden. 192
Staffordshire Bull Terriers
were reported stolen, closely
followed by Chihuahuas (104),
French Bulldog (88), Jack
Russell (82) Pug (58).
Security specialist Yale is
also sponsoring the Dogs
Trust theft campaign, ‘Family
Pawtraits’, which aims to raise
dog owner’s awareness of dog
safety and consider making
small security changes to help
protect their pet. Yale will
also be joining Dogs Trust
at various Fun Days around
UK to meet dog owners and
offer tips on extra security
measures.
Stephen Roberts, Marketing
Manager at Yale UK says:
“As the research suggests
homes and back gardens are
commonly targeted by burglars
so it’s essential to ensure
gates and any access areas are
locked and ideally monitored
remotely. Yale outdoor cameras
and padlocks work as excellent
deterrents, whereas an indoor
smart security camera makes
it simple for owners to keep
an eye on their pets whilst
away from home via the Yale
smartphone app. Smart home
alarm systems can also be
beneficial, with a part arm
option, which helps to prevent
furry friends creating any false
alarms.”
Dogs Trust is the UK’s
largest dog welfare
charity and cares for
15,000 dogs across its
network of 20 rehoming
centres in the UK and
one in Dublin. Dogs Trust
has a non-destruction
policy and will never
put a healthy dog to
sleep. The charity also
focuses its efforts on
understanding dogs and
sharing that knowledge
with the wider public
to prevent problem
behaviours that can
result in relinquishment
or abandonment. We
are working towards
the day when all dogs
can enjoy a happy
life, free from the
threat of unnecessary
destruction.
