MLA EXPO PREVIEW DOM UK secures Neuro-Disability Hospital » » MAXIMUM SECURITY LEVELS should be implemented within public environments such as hospitals with the aim to protect staff, patients and equipment, but hospitals should also provide a warm and comfortable space. Healthcare practices are usually spread around areas with multiple buildings on one campus, and have rules of access to each building differing for one to another, where staff working in certain departments may not be allowed to access other areas of the building, therefore establishing effective access control solutions can generally assist in managing entry and exit points within a range of building environments. A well-established Neuro Disability Hospital and Medical Charity based in London was awarded planning permission in 2017 to refurbish an existing unit and implement new state-of-the-art features such as furniture, doors and new locking solutions; with the aim of allowing access to key areas of the building and individuals to easily pass through corridors and zones. Following meetings with the procurement and facilities management, it was identified the ideal locking system would need to accommodate for high volumes of hospital staff, allowing access to certain zones but not all, plus offer that extra level of security and patent protection. DOM ix Twido® Albeit DOM products are installed within an end-user environment, DOM UK work with hundreds of locksmiths located in UK & Ireland, as part of their national dealership programme. Following correspondences with the hospital’s decision-making team, part of the project was awarded to Oakley Locksmiths Ltd to design and supply DOM’s ix Twido® mechanical solution integrated with a dedicated Masterkey system. Oakley Locksmiths are a well-established locksmith, based in the South West area of London, having been established since 1987, the family owned business specialises in offering project’s for both public and private industry sectors. As part of the supply process Oakley Locksmiths carried an extensive practical training programme at DOM UK premises. The training consisted of best available techniques on how to assemble cylinder’s, pinning process and how to overcome certain technical issues whilst onsite. Mr Richard Hayes from Oakley Locksmiths commented” both myself and Laura attended the training at DOM premises. We found the training programme to be informative and very much “hands on”. Our main objective was to find out more on the pinning process on a modular cylinder construction and how to better manage the loading of small components through the assembly process” Why choose a Masterkey System? A Masterkey system is a bespoke solution, planned and designed by DOM, but created with end-user requirements in mind. DOM UK Sales Manager Mr Owen Boothby tell us more about the new mechanical system “DOM’s ix Twido® is 26 a reversible key, so no matter which side the key is inserted and rotated, access is provided imminently. Specifically, ideal for users who are visually impaired or if you are trying to access certain areas in the dark. The reversible key provides that extra level of security and piece of mind requested by the hospital and offer significant advantages on its design elements.” Director at Oakley Locksmiths Ltd Ms Laura Oakley commented” We have built a strong partnership with DOM UK, through which we are able to provide a range on both mechanical and electronic products to our customer base, gives us the advantage when speaking with end- users and helps us understand the issues being experienced onsite by our clients and offering solutions bespoke to their requirements. “DOM UK work with our locksmith clients in ensuring we are able to provide full assistance from start to finish” Mr Boothby further comments “We consider our customer’s as partners and are able to offer areas of support on point of sale and marketing material, joint client meetings, product training, and on-going aftersales support.” DOM UK is sole sponsor and exhibitor at the Master Locksmith Association (MLA) Expo 2019 this year, taking place at the International Telford Centre from the 4th – 6th October 2019.
