DIY social media hints & tips you’ re sure to‘ like’

»»
ACCORDING TO RESEARCH, 71 % OF consumers who have had a good social media service experience with a product are likely to use it and recommend it to others. APECS marketing director, Marina Logacheva, suggests a few tips on how to make sure that you attract more‘ organic’ followers of your business using Facebook …
THE BASICS
Create a page for your business and include information about who you are and what you do. As soon as someone likes / follows your page, they will be able to see your posts, so make sure you’ re creating content that keeps them entertained, interested, and more likely to recommend your business to more people.
1. SPARK CONVERSATION
An update this January 2018 means Facebook now prioritises‘ meaningful interactions’( like commenting and sharing) from friends and family, over mere‘ likes’ and content from brands. Actions requiring‘ more effort’ suggest that users are more engaged and Facebook wants users to be more inspired. This does mean, however, that it becomes trickier to get attention to your company profile page. Focus on quality content that’ s get people talking – for the right reason – by:
• Including questions.
• Staying relevant( summer: protecting your property while on holiday / locking up bikes, winter: longer / darker nights, Christmas presents, etc.)
• Ask your friends and family to comment and share your posts
• Comment on comments; the more comments, the more opportunity to be seen.
2. GENERATE EMOTIONS Facebook further prioritises posts with
‘ loves’ over‘ likes’, so try:
More real-life pictures. Showing your daily challenges and‘ wins’ may feel a bit much at first, but if it helps to get more attention, and possibly more new customers, why not to ty it?
Click on the right-hand corner of the area where you write a post, to‘ make a poll’. They can give you some useful free insights about your customers, as well as up to a 20 percent boost in‘ traffic’.
3. ENCOURAGE SHARES
You want people to share on their wall, or even send a link to their friend, here are some ideas:
• Record a short( 1 minute) video discussing different products such as padlocks / bike locks.
• Create DIY videos that show off your professional knowledge, while promoting your products and services.
• Video instructions for doors / locks that consumers can look back on after a purchase or use to help them make a decision on which to buy.
• Don’ t forget to add your contact details in the comments, so they can contact you directly.
4. LIVE VIDEOS
As Mark Zuckerberg said“ live videos on average get six times as many interactions as regular videos,” so try:
• Making a live video of you at work( without revealing any trade secrets!) once a week.
•‘ Tease’ future instalments to generate excitement / ask followers what they’ d like to see next.
5. CROSS-PROMOTION
Benefit your existing customers, attract new ones. and potentially save time and money on advertising by:
• Identifying a local business that complements yours – estate agenst, cleaners, home decorators, car wash – then make contact asking if you can promote each other’ s businesses to your friends and followers.
• Offer joint discount, where both of you provide reduced rates when someone makes a purchase from both of you.
• Propose to a home improvement store – or similar – that you’ d like to host a demo about the security market or common DIY mistakes. You could allow record this as a video post.
6. SPECIAL OFFERS Create special offers in exchange for email. Email addresses are like gold dust for any business because you will be able to reach out to that customer personally, so create special offers in exchange for contact details then use a free system, like mailchimp. com, to easily create and send mass e-mails.
7. THINK MOBILE
Optimise your Facebook posts for mobile phones for the 90 percent( according to statistics) of users that prefer it on that device by:
• Using shorter posts that are easier to read on a small device
• Posting at peak mobile usage times,( around 9 am and 5 pm when people are travelling to and from work)
8. TIME-SAVING TIPS Seek out tools that let you create posts faster, so you can concentrate on your‘ day job’, without neglecting your Facebook page:
• Magisto. com lets you create and edit videos quickly and distribute across multiple channels and devices
• Get free stock images from Pexel. com
• Canva. com is great for adding copy, images, etc. to your posts.
