Duffells Open Day – Hot Stuff Once Again!

17th June 2017
»»
DUFFELLS OPEN DAY IS ALWAYS A popular event – we sent The Locksmith’ s Andrew Davies along to check it out for himself.
When organising any outdoor event in this country we always have to bear in mind the weather!
Rain has literally put a dampener on many a summer event. But just how do you deal with the hottest day of the year, especially when it’ s on a Saturday? Will people still turn up, when beer gardens, beaches and families are tempting you to change your plans?
No problem- Duffells turned the fine weather to their advantage at their recent Open Day. Cold drinks on ice, a large covered seating area outside, lots of fresh salads to accompany the gourmet Hog Roast and even an ice cream. These touches were certainly much appreciated by the many locksmiths who attended the popular event which successfully mixes business with pleasure.
A CLEAR WINNER But then we know that the Duffells Open Day is always an excellent event. The concept of having products on display by the actual manufacturer, who can explain and demonstrate, but also are available to buy at the trade counter immediately, many of them on special offer- is a clear winner. It gives the locksmith not only the opportunity to find out what the latest products are, but also to find out how they actually work and-
most importantly- ask pertinent questions and get the answers from the experts.
Some of the latest and most impressive product launches Allegion had on display, for example, included the new Briton 131 template adjustable overhead closer, fully certified accordance with construction product regulations in two positions; the Briton 4200 series stainless steel lever handle furniture and accessories, and the new keyless locking system, SimonsVoss MobileKey.
Alpro exhibited a broad range of general hardware designed for aluminium doors. Focusing mainly on Access Control and Door Hardware, Magnetic Locking including the Vortex Magnet, electronic locking Bolts, including the DB25, a selection of handles and electric strikes, transom closers and surface fix closers,
mortice locks and cylinders, as well as the New Cobalt lock.
Avocet demonstrated how insecure standard euro profile cylinders are using the demo rig – impressive. Afterwards, locksmiths were given the opportunity to snap a standard cylinder themselves and then offered them the chance to try and snap an ABS and ATK cylinder- and try to gain entry through the door by bypassing it.
Borg Locks exhibited a brand new range of ECP( easi-code pro) models all incorporating `on door` code change, making the slow and very laborious task of code changing well and truly a thing of the past!
The new ECP range begins with the entry level 2000 series and will go through the range of timber and metal
