Auto work grows for Locksmith Lottery winner »»CONGRATULATIONS TO ADAM Marsh of Marshtech Security for winning this issue’s Locksmith Lotto and becoming the proud owner of five new Ultion polished cylinder locks, kindly donated by Brisant. Adam has been running his business in Dover, Kent, since 2012 and went into locksmithing when he left school. His company offers locksmith services, intruder alarms, vehicle security, CCTV systems, and access control such as audio and video entry systems, keypads and proximity readers. He offers a 24-hour emergency lock out service, lock fitting and repairs, PVCu door locks, window locks, security grilles and roller shutters, safes and key safes. He can also supply wired, wireless and hybrid alarms, alarm repairs and maintenance. Marshtech uses brands including Union, Yale and Era Products. Vehicle security services include alarms and immobilisers, van locks, and vehicle CCTV. This part of the business is growing, as motorists get into various predicaments with their keys. “One of the most common call outs is to drivers who have accidentally locked their keys in the boot,” said Adam. His workload is currently about 60% domestic and 40% commercial. He told The Locksmith: “Over the last couple of years I have gone over more to auto locksmithing largely because the demand is there. My catchment area is quite small so I have to do a variety of work – you couldn’t survive LOCKSMITHJOURNAL.CO.UK | JUL/AUG 2016 Sponsored by ASSA ABLOY on just doing locks – and I think the market is quite flooded with general locksmiths. Another busy area for me now is CCTV, particularly for small businesses. Customers now like to view their CCTV on their Smartphones.” Adam narrowly escaped being caught up in July’s chaos at the Port of Dover, when motorists faced delays of up to 14 hours and five mile queues to get to the port. The problems were blamed on tighter French security checks and a ‘vast’ amount of holiday traffic. Adam said: “Luckily I was away but that would have been a nightmare for my business. The town was gridlocked.” Adam will be attending the Lockex exhibition at Ricoh Arena, Coventry, from September 16th to 18th. As well as exhibitors, the event offers daily training courses. Adam said: “I’m looking forward to it and have signed up for two days of training.”
