Get an
Insight into
Keyline
Members of the Tradelocks
team recently flew out
to Venice, Italy, to meet
with Elena Bianchi, an 8th
generation family member of
master locksmith Prospero
Bianchi, the founding member
of the Bianchi key business.
»»Ben Jennings, UAP
Tradelocks Marketing Manager,
commented: “When we arrived
at the Keyline building, we were
very impressed at how friendly
everyone was. Elena took us
through the history of Keyline,
from when her ancestors started
the company in 1770 to current
date.
“We were given a tour of the
factory. Keyline manufacture
all its products in Italy,
setting themselves apart from
their competitors and being
confident when branding
products; every Keyline
product is stamped with
‘Proudly made in Italy’.
“Our first stop was a visit to the
Key division. Keyline make over
45 million blank keys annually,
from a multitude of machines;
which stamp out the key shapes
to others which created the key
profiles and key heads.”
“Our next stop was the Key
Cutting Machine division,
where each machine is
meticulously put together
by hand. It was extremely
interesting to see the amount of
time and care which goes into
each machine and was clear
to see from the passion each
employee has making sure each
machine is of perfect quality
before being sent for testing.
“A key machine can take
anywhere from one to twentyfive hours to assemble, and the
attention to detail to make sure
each element is perfect, was
remarkable.”
“We also got a chance to
see exactly how the machines
are tested. It was impressive
to learn that each machine is
tested for two days, cutting
keys non-stop. With this sort
of testing and passion for
each machine, it is no wonder
why Keyline machines are
considered to be the best
key cutting machines in the
World.”
“We were then given the
opportunity to experience the
company’s on-site museum,
where we were shown a huge
collection of locks and key
machines from as far back as
the 1700s. The collection of
locks had been passed down
over many years, and includes
some very rare locks and
some of the first key cutting
machines ever made.”
“One of our main aims for
visiting Keyline was to get an
in-depth knowledge on how
the key cutting machine work
and operate. The Keyline
training room was complete
with all Keyline machines,
giving us the opportunity to
become technically familiar
with each machine.”

“After a great training session,
we met with Massimo, the
owner of Keyline and he took
us to see his collection of classic
sports cars and super bikes, a
fantastic way to end our visit!”
“Our Keyline visit
demonstrated exactly why the
Keyline machines are so good
and the whole Tradelocks
team are now looking forward
to showing off these machines,
practising their new found
knowledge.”
