Happy 5th Birthday Tradelocks!
It doesn’t seem just five years ago that
Tradelocks launched in the UK market.
Five years ago the locksmith industry
had no knowledge of Tradelocks or
Genuine Lishi, yet today they have more
than 30 distributors and export to 25
countries! Five years ago, locksmiths had
no real access to affordable tools to make
their lives easier. Five years ago there
was just the MLA expo, and no trade
publications except Keyways or online
ezines - today there are two ezines and
three trade magazines covering the UK.
‘most people in the industry
have heard about Tradelocks’
Today most people in the industry have
heard about Tradelocks, and they now in
fact, serve more than 1,000 locksmiths in
the UK. But the impact of Tradelocks on
the market has been far wider than just
making tools accessible. The Locksmith
journal started as an idea Tradelocks
had, and they went to The Locksmith’s
former owner and offered to underwrite
all their development and set up costs.
Tradelocks felt that the industry needed
a voice outside of Keyways that got to
the non-MLA members. Tradelocks also
backed the launch of Locks and Security
News, and the Locksmith Exhibition, as
well as sponsoring the MLA expo, the ALA
expo, the Locksmith Expo twice and ALEX
twice. They have also sponsored Just Cars
in the USA twice and the MAA in Australia
once!

Tradelocks has supported the industry
and helped its development, and yet, as
David Jennings, MD of UAP Ltd, states:
We don’t even think we have started to
maximise our potential, and we have a lot
more to do!”
David continues, “Five years ago we
entered the market with a few Chinese
tools, and a range of try out keys and
jigglers. Today, we have more than 150
specialist tools, plus over 200 different
Genuine Lishi tools. We offer locksmiths
everyday items from Rim Cylinders to
Mortice Locks to Euro Cylinders.”
“So we are proud to stand here five
years later having achieved so much.
But we will never ever rest on our laurels
because we have so much more to do. On
our birthday month we are going to do a
special Thank You promotion to all of our
loyal customers. And we have a lot of new
products to launch in this our 5th birthday
year - here’s just a glimpse:
• Genuine Lishi Night Vision 3-in-1
Ignition Adjusted Range launches
September 2014
• Genuine Lishi Key Cutting Machine
launches September 2014
• Genuine Lishi Key Cloner launches
August 2014
• Tradelocks Generation 3 Pick Gun
launches September 2014
• Cylinder Ripper launches October 2014
• Full Tibbe Kit launches August 2014
And where can Tradelocks be found over
the next year? We will be supporting our
distributors during 2014-15 in UK shows,
exhibiting at ELF in Dublin in May 2015;
ALOA 2015 in the USA; and MLA Australia
in October 2014.
David concludes, “So thanks for the first
five years. We have done a lot of good
things. We know we made a few mistakes,
and we have gone out of our way to rectify
those. And during the next five years we
promise to become your chosen supplier
and give you the best service and support
in the industry.”
As a special treat, and to say a massive
