IFSEC INtERNATIONAL’S TRIUMPHANT
RETURN TO LONDON
IFSEC International 2014 has been hailed as a huge success, vindicating its
relocation to the capital after several years in the Birmingham NEC.
Taking place between 17 and 19 June at
London ExCeL, the show attracted 22,627
attendees over three days, breaking down
into a 5.2% year-on-year increase in total
visitors, a 29% increase in end users and
a 37% jump in overseas visitors.
IFSEC International formed part of
Protection & Management 2014, which
welcomed 40,000 people through its
doors and brought together several other
shows with overlapping disciplines: FIREX
International, the Facilities Show, Energy
& Environment Expo, Safety & Health Expo
and Service Management Expo.
With the security, fire, facilities, safety
and energy worlds’ so closely related –
and increasingly more so as concepts like
Intelligent Buildings and Safe Cities gain
currency – having these shows in a single
venue is invaluable to attendees.
Record-breaking
Protection & Management 2014 enjoyed
a record-breaking opening day as 19,544
visitors arrived – a 23% increase on 2013.
More than 1,700 exhibitors showcased
their latest solutions and offered visitors
the chance to get hands-on with their
technology.
The rise in overseas visitors burnished
the show’s credibility in a market where
UK companies perform so strongly
internationally. The UKTI Events Alliance
also attended the show for the first time.

Around a third (32%) of attendees had a
budget in excess of £1 million and a further
10% had a budget greater than £10 million.
Overall budgets have risen 8.6% year on
year, demonstrating the industry’s rude
health.
‘attracted 22,627 attendees’
Integrated security, intruder alarms,
physical security and perimeter protection
proved popular subjects among
delegates.
Looking good for 2015
More than 87% of the floor plan has
already been rebooked for 2015, with
returning exhibitors including: Tyco,
Xtralis, Axis Communications, Milestone,
Canon, CSL DualCom, BT Redcare, Pelco,
Paxton, Pyronix, Texecom, Avigilon, RISCO,
UTC, IDIS, Y3K, Bosch, Salto, ASSA ABLOY,

Debuting at the show, the Safe Cities
Conference is the first of its kind in any
security show – focusing on a city’s
holistic requirements rather than those
of its individual components. Dedicated
content and case studies for London were
presented alongside those of other global
mega cities.
The conference enjoyed the backing
of the UK government and the London
Mayor.
Other theatres included: IFSEC Global.
com Centre Stage, which showcased
some of the industry’s biggest names, and
the ipAssured Education Zone, Smart
Buildings Theatre, Convergence Solutions
Theatre, Tavcom Training Theatre and the
Risk & Security Management Theatre.
IFSEC & FIREX International event
director Gerry Dunphy said: “IFSEC
International 2014 has gone above and
beyond everyone’s expectations; we set the
bar high and wanted to demonstrate that
this is the next chapter of IFSEC.
“Response from both visitors and
exhibitors to the new venue, features and
education has been hugely positive. We’ve
already made a great start towards 2015
with 87% of the floor plan booked and look
forward to welcoming everyone back next
year.”
