AUTO LOCKSMITHS

Paranoia is advisable – they are out to get you

We are bombarded to the point of stupefaction by the endless stories of who someone or some company was ripped off by a malign person acquiring their personal data . There are tens of thousands of people out there who live by deceit and impersonation . It is no longer an ‘ exotic prince ’ or ‘ overseas lottery ’ but a whole degree of sophistication far beyond that .

» JUST A FEW EXAMPLES LIKE where Sony games consoles were hacked , and parents suddenly found they owed thousands - entry to your computer system and you are held to ransom – amazingly skilful bank account frauds – even down to Samsung smart TV ’ s reporting back on what you watch and which adverts caught your attention . Similarly , the Smart Home where such as your fridge or freezer can report on its contents and , very serious , the theft of expensive cars by the relay system capturing the data on your fob .
I mention all of this because in our industry we face potential issues whenever we log in to a remote terminal somewhere to enter in details of a vehicle or security system . Often , we have no idea who is really receiving that data or whether some crook is not in their system gathering data for criminal purposes . You will be well advised to keep such system entry to a minimum and to try to understand who you are really dealing with . So , machines and devices that can operate without internet access are safer than others and many of the risker access systems are marked by token systems , even free tokens !

We are at last back to being able to visit locksmiths shows after such a gap when you could not actually see and handle equipment that you might buy . You couldn ’ t even visit the sellers for a demonstration . We at Lockdecoders had a good weekend at Telford with the big MLA show in October . It cost us over £ 10,000 all-in to attend but well worth it for the big volume of business we did – Miracle key machines , MiraClone with the new D7 cable for Toyota G & H remotes , hundreds of vehicle remote keys and a mass of Access tools for car opening – just about a total sell-out of that very high-class gear .
So , it will be pleasure to be there at Mick Friend ’ s Lockexpo on the 5th and 6th March at The Belfry , Nottingham . See you there …
Just a word of friendly advice . This show may be the last where we can hold our current prices . Inward freight has increased by 160 %, the price of computer chips has soared , and our factories are experiencing internal domestic inflation .
We see price increases as just about inevitable and we see that others in our industry are already escalating prices . If you are thinking of a new machine buy it now .
