TRIPLE CHALLENGE FOR NEW MD
» IT ’ S A TRIPLE CROWN FOR STEVE Marshall who has not only taken over as Managing Director of Strand Hardware , but also its two sister companies – Strand Technologies and AliMet Fabrications .
However , his new challenge has taken him full circle – he began his career as an estimator for an aluminium door and window fabrication company ( James Gibbons ) before moving into the world of
automatics ( Newman Tonks followed by Horton Automatics ).
Steve ’ s appointment is a significant step change for Strand Hardware and demonstrates a resounding belief in his abilities . It will be the first time that the company has seen day-to-day operations managed by someone outside the family-run firm . Strand was founded by Jonathan Franks in 1991 and his daughter , Catherine , took on the role of Managing Director in 2005 . She will continue to help steer the ship in her new role as Chair of Strand Hardware .
He says he intends to spend his first 100 days ‘ learning and planning ’ - getting to know the teams , existing customers , market segments and identify opportunities for growth , development and diversification ; supported at Strand Hardware by Sales Director Craig Fox and General Manager Jo Wallis in managing the day-to-day business operations .

Squire appoints Neil Hudson as Two-Wheel Brand Development Manager
» BRITISH SECURITY SPECIALIST Squire has appointed Neil Hudson as Two- Wheel Brand Development Manager with responsibility for elevating the Squire brand across cycle and motorcycle markets .
He brings a lifelong passion for mountain biking and the great outdoors to his new role and will work closely with distributors to expand Squire ’ s dealer network across the UK .
With a background in design and marketing , Neil is looking to develop new marketing strategies across all media platforms , as well as supporting new product development and product launches .
He said : “ I ’ m very excited to join the Squire team . Having the opportunity to bring my personal experience and passion for cycling to two-wheel sectors and working with such an iconic British
security brand , it ’ s a great fit . I ’ m very much looking forward to being part of Squire ’ s growth plans . ”
Neil will be managing Squire ’ s presence at UK and international bicycle and motorcycle festivals and exhibitions . And he ’ ll be developing Squire ’ s successful partnership with Squire ’ s two-wheel brand ambassador , adventure motorcycling legend Nick Sanders MBE .

» HARNESSING YOUNG TALENT , Burg-Wächter , Germany ’ s security specialist , has appointed two Leeds University students for internships within its busy marketing department .
Following on from last year ’ s successful programme , the team at Burg-Wächter has welcomed second year students , Isabelle Burke and Rowan Lyall into the organisation to gain real life experience in a dynamic working environment .
Isabelle , who is studying Graphic Design and Communication , is focussing on marketing communications , corporate literature and packaging , whilst Liberal Arts student , Rowan is concentrating on product management .
Isabelle said , “ This is a fantastic opportunity to gain meaningful insight into how a business such as Burg- Wächter works ,” whilst Rowan added , “ We are working with a great team who are keen to mentor us and give us the support we need .”
