This means the opportunity for brand exposure is enormous, but with so many different platforms it’s sometimes difficult to decide where to focus your efforts. Here, Khya Newell, Senior Marketing Executive for Mul-T-Lock takes a look at the benefits of using Facebook and Twitter for business. Although it’s fair to say that many of us can sometimes be skeptical about social media, we shouldn’t underestimate the power of social marketing. There have been numerous small business success stories on Facebook and Twitter, and with over 42.6 million active UK users across both channels, they are the perfect platforms to showcase your business. You can use your Facebook business page and Twitter channel for a number of reasons, but the main benefits are to create awareness of your company and increase your customer base. Social media marketing is also a very low-cost tool for communicating to your customers on a day-to-day basis – there is no hosting fee like there is with a website, for example. Other benefits of having a social media presence include the ability to engage with your customers, and therefore add a ‘personality’ to your business; and for driving traffic back to your website or blog, using links in your posts. This ‘call to action’ could lead directly to information about your products and services, latest offers and promotions, or even include a phone number or email address for direct sales leads. Having a successful Facebook page or Twitter channel is also a good way of getting noticed by local media, or at least forming links with them and obtaining contacts which may be of use for your other marketing activity. You can even use the platforms to network with similar businesses or influencers in your field and find prospects to sign up for your mailing list, converting them later to paying customers. If you are passionate about your craft, then Facebook and Twitter are also great forums for educating the consumer and establishing yourself as a leading authority in the market. This will give people even more reason to ‘like’ your page/channel, with the potential to translate into more business opportunities. Your social channels can help you to reach large groups of people frequently but it’s important that the messages you post are tailored to their needs and interests. This could include security tips and advice, crime statistics from the local area, and information on the products and services you offer. Overall, social media marketing is vital in this day and age as your social presence can act as an extension of your business and help to increase awareness and grow your customer base. It’s an easy way to share updates and help you engage with your customers on both desktop and on mobile. Our locksmith customers are very important to us here at Mul-T-Lock; you are the lifeblood of what we do, the new products we launch and the services that we offer.
