ABLOY UK HAS SUPPLIED ScottishPower with a compliant fire door solution to secure their Battery Rooms without compromising on health, safety or aesthetics.
They operate in the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity, energy management and supply of gas and electricity in the UK.

Fire doors supplied

ScottishPower required a number of fire doors across four sites with a fireresistance rating used as part of a passive fire protection system, with the aim of reducing the spread of fire and enabling safe egress from a building.
‘ Abloy UK offered the full package’
The main priority was maintaining the safety of staff and it was also important for the doors to be aesthetically pleasing due
to the age of the sites. Furthermore, It was imperative that the locking elements of the hardware were fire-rated in order for the doors and hardware to both be able to withstand a fire.
Abloy UK’ s range of steel fire doors come with a non-combustible core, include single and double leaf configurations and can be certified latched or unlatched depending on size and configuration. The doors are tested to BS 476 Part 22 and EN 1634-1:2008, as well as being Certifire compliant and therefore regularly audited and approved to ensure continued conformity.
Richard Linton, Electrical Control and Instrumentation Engineer at ScottishPower is responsible for site visits and surveys, reviewing of suppliers and dealing with enquiries from clients.
Regarding the install, Richard had the following comments:‘ We have a long standing relationship with Abloy UK; their brand is well known within the market so when we discovered they could offer a complete compliant solution, we arranged a meeting to discuss this further. At the initial meeting we talked about several options in regards to compliance, security and health and safety. Abloy UK offered the full package with supply, delivery, removal, survey and install.”
