MARIO DAMICO IS THE OWNER AND Director of Italian Locking Systems in Musselburgh, East Lothian. The company was originally established by Mario’ s father in 1970 under the name International Locks and Security and was responsible for patenting the first bullet lock in the UK in 1972.

Italian Locking Systems( UK) Ltd started trading back in 1987. The Company’ s main
sector of interest being the roller shutter trade to which it initially sold a range of roller shutter locks, padlocks and shutter components. Thereafter, it became an affiliate member of the British Blinds and Shutters Association( BBSA).
With the introduction of its research and development division, the Company progressed by introducing new design innovation to its range of roller shutter locks, resulting in the introduction to the UK, of its Pin & Bullet( Guide) locks.
Italian Locking Systems( UK) Ltd is currently one of the main suppliers in the UK to the container hire industry and the roller shutter trade. In association with the industry, the company continues to advance the quality and security of its wide range of locks, padlocks, cylinders, mortice locks, using current technology applications.
In 1995, Italian Locking Systems( UK) Ltd moved from its original site to larger premises to accommodate the expansion of the business and to further extend activities to the security sector industry, where it still is to this day.
In 1999, Italian Locking Systems( UK) Ltd applied for and was awarded the ISO 9002 certificate,( currently re-named BS EN ISO 9001- 2000), which guarantees full provision of quality services, products and reliability, and also became a member of the Master Locksmiths Association, now employing its own locksmiths who can undertake any master keying, and re-pinning of padlocks.
The diverse needs of the security industry and domestic market has also encouraged
Italian Locking Systems( UK) Ltd to enter into co-operation agreements with well known internationally reputed security lock manufacturers, such as Cisa, Facchinetti, Effe-Ti-Taroni, Newlok 2000, Viro, Prefer, Bassi and Era, to ensure the highest quality and specialised security lock products at a competitive price.
Mario says,“ Our excellent reputation is due to the maintenance of a first-class service, due to being a small family-run business, and at the same time we carry a wide range of products, catering to the different requirements of our customers, from being cost effective, to the finest quality available, together with an experienced and obliging sales staff and locksmiths, items will be despatched for next day delivery( for Mainland Britain), providing it is a stock item.
