INDUSTRYNEWS • 5 PROUD SPONSORS OF THIS PAGE Distributing with a Difference John and Patricia Clyde set up PJC Locks and Safes over three years ago to offer customers a less traditional way of buying products. »»NOW THE COUPLE HAVE OVER 17 websites under their belt, with three of the sites aimed at the Irish market and the remaining offering niche products from their extensive range. www.pjclocksandsafes.co.uk is the company’s main online shopping site, offering customers an easy and simple way to find and choose the right product for the job. It gives visitors the opportunity to find products by brand or description, and with an instant online price available users can then add the product to their shopping cart. John and Patricia accredit the success of their business to firstly the way trades’ now purchase products and the convenience of using online ordering, but also to the way they have used more generic search terms in order for the visitor to find their websites. PJC Lock and Safes has seen a 25% year-on-year growth over the last 12 months, with an ongoing monthly sales order increase of 15% through the online shopping sites since July. John comments on the growth: “Our business model has worked extremely well and people may think that selling online detaches you from your customers, however we have found that the site has generated regular customers, who do still order online but know they can pick up the phone or email to get help and support. “Taking this into account, we decided to invest in facilities to offer customers a ‘click and collect’ service, in the form of a new trade-counter.” John adds. John and Patricia decided to set-up their first trade-counter in Crewe, Chester in December 2015, with plans for a further six trade-counters in the next two years.
