This month’s winner of the Locksmith lottery, sponsored by ABUS is Caversham based Locksmith Melanie Mahabir. »»MELANIE, WHO HAS BEEN trading as Lady Kamalock since qualifying in 2012, has won this month’s lottery prize of £75.00 towards goods from Duffells’ online ordering site. Melanie’s career choice to become a Locksmith started after her nephew managed to lock them out of the home. Melanie had previously spent 18 years taking care of her sister’s four children. Unfortunately, from an early age Melanie’s sister suffered a severe mental illness and Melanie stepped in to take care of her children. During this time, Melanie took her degree in TV and Media, assisting in the creation of a short film based on the block buster movie – Lord of the Rings. The movie can still be viewed on You Tube https://www.youtube.com/ watch?v=VaakJk9vR7U. After finishing her degree, and still looking after all four children, Melanie sought out funding to aid her to attend an intense three day UKLA course and gain herself a qualification to trade as a professional Locksmith. Four years later, Melanie’s business, Lady Lamalock services domestic and commercial businesses in and around the Caversham area, with an occasional interesting job, such as the time when she was asked to open a property LOCKSMITHJOURNAL.CO.UK | JAN/FEB 2016 Sponsored by Gretsch-Unitas by bailiffs opposite Windsor Castle. Unfortunately, Melanie had to wait until the end of a procession by the ‘Changing of the Guards’ before she could attempt to open up the property.
