Building a Team
Gaining a contract with a large estate agent really boosted my confidence , making me realise I could make this work . Recently , I was headhunted to join a team of locksmiths , however , I chose to instead relaunch my company , Kan Locks . Now , I ’ m focusing on areas like M11 , Essex , Hertford , East London , and SE London , rebuilding a team with people who are quiet and dedicated . Training is free , and I spend every

Saturday and weekdays on the road teaching new locksmiths .
The locksmithing community has faced challenges , with many skilled locksmiths struggling for work , selling their tools or switching careers . One guy lost all his work with energy companies , and compared it to experiencing COVID-19 ’ s impact twice . My goal is to find both skilled and nonskilled individuals who are keen and dedicated .

Learning on-the-go The Locksley app is a fantastic tool for locksmiths , enabling non-destructive entry and ensuring clean jobs . We need locksmiths who are reliable and capable , as good work ensures a steady stream of jobs and income . I ’ ve worked with estate agencies and energy companies , emphasising the need for a genuine love of the craft . It ’ s all I ’ ve ever done , and I believe in treating people well , being professional , and working hard .

I find that GJ locksmiths make the best tools and it ’ s useful to attend the MLA Expo in Telford to see every tool you could ever need showcased . Locksmithing is a specialist craft , it ’ s great to see experts like Jason Hillier at work .
I offer warrant work to the new locksmiths I have trained , and I ’ ve trained people from various backgrounds - like a dog handler I met at a warrant job and the son of a friend who worked at Nando ’ s - another trainee was a hospital worker looking for a new skill to supplement his income .

Bringing in the Money Locksmithing is less strenuous than other jobs and self-employment offers a better work-life balance . It ’ s about helping people improve their lives , not just making money . If you excel at what you do , the money will come naturally . It ’ s important to hone your skills ‘ as if your life depends on it ’ and you ’ ll become an elite locksmith .
While I focus more on picking now , I fell in love with a mortice pick from GJ Locksmiths at the MLA Expo last year . Locksmithing is my life , and I want to share that passion with others .
