Stuart Game also impressively did a demonstration of picking an 11-lever double-bitted safe lock in front of forty locksmiths ! Watching this was not planned , so no pressure at all !
Steve Underwood , who has been a locksmith for over 50 years , wanted to pass on his trade skills . Steve is closely involved with a group of ex-military locksmiths who want to help raise standards in the industry . He took guys through welding and did it on live decommissioned safes that he brought along for the guys to practise on . Sorting out the health and safety requirements for the welding training to go ahead was a nightmare , but it was all worth it .
There ’ s always food and drink Well of course , there ’ s always food and drink , we had a campfire and lots of beers . 40 locksmiths were in attendance from Friday evening through to Sunday afternoon . We had fish and chips on the Friday night , and on the Saturday night we had a BBQ . Locksmiths demonstrated other talents such as Wayne Colvin with his DJ set , prompting DJ Mark Grainger to get some time on the decks and singing from Simon Mason Newman .
We had two BBQs on the go , one of which was cooking Halal meeting catering for our Muslim friends in attendance .
We even had an area dedicated to 4am prayers . The event had a big family feel , and across different cultures too , it was great to see .

Mark Santi Set up Pick Me Locksmith after completing 24 years military service . A qualified master locksmith in just under two years , which was achieved by training and mentoring from some of the country ’ s finest locksmiths . Eight ball engineering was formed by a team of locksmiths and marketing guys in 2020 - they worked closely to develop the Ultra Pick , designed in collaboration with a Rolls Royce engineer .
The team have built strong relationships with locksmiths across the UK and Ireland by taking training on the road over the last three years . Listening to these locksmiths and experiencing the frustrations as locksmiths themselves . Operating through lockdowns and responding to industry turbulence , that was caused by a quick shift in warrant work and increasing operating costs .
The founding of Certified Locksmiths and Security was prompted by the need to protect consumers from an unregulated industry . The organisation supports genuine local locksmiths and safe engineers , collaborating with its members to foster effective competition against national chains and enhance the presence of smaller , local locksmiths .
