The decision comes as figures obtained by Direct Line Insurance reveal a troubling increase in tool theft , with 207 reports in the county last year , compared to 171 in 2022 . Nationally , nearly £ 100 million worth of equipment was stolen from tradespeople in 2023 , with a tool-related theft reported every 12 minutes .
