It is through working together that we can break down barriers and build a more inclusive industry . Whether it ’ s through mentorship programs , joint ventures , or collaborative projects , the collective effort of diverse teams leads to better problem-solving and creative solutions .
Lisa Butterfield of D & E Lloyd Locksmiths highlights this in her approach to being a woman in the locksmithing industry . She says : “ I take great pride in breaking barriers , embracing an inclusive work culture and delivering service excellence . I am proud to champion Ladies Who Locksmith and support the delivery of the best security service to our community .”
These achievements are a testament to the dividends paid by bringing a fresh perspective , which can only be achieved by having a more diverse and inclusive workforce .
And it ’ s where our collaboration with the Master Locksmith Association is crucial . The organisation is itself celebrating its first female president , Val Stokes as a “ true industry leader and inspiration for women everywhere .” The recent launch of the Women in
Locksmithing speaks volumes on how far the industry has come .
Self-described as opening doors and unlocking opportunities , the key to its success is women supporting women . These groups are critical to ensure we continue to empower and raise awareness of the incredible contributions women make in our locksmith industry . A chance to shine and celebrate our achievements .
Mul-T-Lock is thrilled to be sponsoring the MLA two-day Foundation Level Course and contributing to the education and training of future women in locksmithing . Taking place 30th September to 1st October is a great opportunity to learn and explore the fundamentals of a career in locksmithing .
This sponsorship demonstrates our commitment to fostering new talent , welcoming ladies to our industry and ensuring that we benefit from a welltrained , diverse workforce . By supporting these foundational courses , we aim to provide aspiring locksmiths with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed , regardless of their gender or background .
This is an opportunity to keep pushing the standards for equality , representation , inclusion and diversity .
The Future
The future of women in locksmithing holds great promise , reflecting broader societal shifts towards gender equality and inclusivity . As industries worldwide strive for diversity , locksmithing too is evolving , recognising the invaluable contributions of women . The path ahead involves dismantling long-standing stereotypes and creating a welcoming environment for women to thrive in this traditionally maledominated field .
Technological advancements also present new opportunities . As locksmithing integrates more sophisticated technology , from smart locks to advanced security systems , there is a growing need for a diverse workforce that brings varied perspectives and skills . Women entering the field today have the chance to become leaders in these emerging areas , shaping the future of physical security technology .
Societal attitudes are shifting . As more women excel in locksmithing , they become role models to the next generation , challenging outdated notions and demonstrating that gender does not determine one ’ s ability to succeed in this field .
Employers are increasingly recognising and embracing the value of a diverse team , leading to more inclusive hiring practices and workplace cultures . ASSA ABLOY has targeted to have 30 % of its leading positions held by women by 2025 and has a dedicated female digital engineering course to help women kickstart a career in the industry .
In welcoming a unity of working together as an industry to embrace this new outlook , we can look forward to a new way of working in the future , with mutual respect for the challenges we have all overcome .
We are stronger working together than we will ever be apart . And by fostering collaboration and innovation , we can create a resilient industry that thrives on shared knowledge and collective growth .
If I may end with a quote from an actress whom I equally admire in her determination to readdress the issues raised with feminism . Emma Watson said : “ Both men and women should feel free to be sensitive . Both men and women should feel free to be strong .”
