From a One-Man-Band to a National Locksmith Franchise
» WE CAUGHT UP WITH KEVIN Russell , managing director of LockFit Group who originally started out as a ‘ one-man-band ’ locksmith in 2018 . With big ambitions and the desire for fair transparent pricing , he quickly grew the business into a highly successful national locksmith franchise by 2019 . Enabling aspiring locksmiths to become a franchisee and access a package of support that includes everything they need to establish themselves and be on the road within four weeks .
The Wow and the How
The Wow : It was amazing to hear how the LockFit franchise grew so quickly - serving the whole of UK through 90 active franchises and covering 120 territories . The How : Kevin explained : “ I set up in 2018 and off I went with one van and a bag of tools . I set up a website and went out into my local area offering my services . Once established , I started to pick-up contracts in my local area from estate agents , property managers , police , emergency services .
“ The idea to scale my business via franchising was born after speaking to a franchising expert I met through a local business network , Andy Moore . Andy had been involved with many franchises including the famous hair loss products marketed by Australian Cricketers , Greg Mathews and the late Shane Warne , who were both brand ambassadors for Advanced Hair Studio .
“ The LockFit franchise started in 2019s shortly after securing some large contracts from big retailers , facilities management and utilities companies across the UK . I needed locksmiths in all areas of the UK to help to service the contracts . I quickly developed a franchise package and used a marketing agency to create the marketing materials and run digital advertising campaigns , as well as registering with all the franchise opportunity websites .”
The Why
Kevin explained : “ I believed that the locksmith industry was in need of fair pricing and transparency . There are a lot of rogue traders around , so I setup LockFit to do things the right way , and to restore confidence both in the domestic and commercial sectors . We believe in always being 100 % transparent . We are clear , upfront and honest about our company charges .”
