» THE EXPERTS AT ADT ANALYSED UK Government data on car thefts to determine the areas most targeted by car thefts . They also looked at data from the DVLA to show which car models and colours are most targeted .
Enfield is the London borough most targeted by car thefts for the current financial year . The London borough has had 1.62 car thefts per 1,000 of its population so far for the 23 / 24 financial year .
The London Borough with the secondmost car thefts is Barking and Dagenham . For the 23 / 24 financial year , Barking and Dagenham have had 1.41 car thefts per 1,000 people .
Haringey is the London borough with the third-most car thefts for the 23 / 24 financial year , with 1.31 car thefts per 1,000 people .
London ’ s Metropolitan Police reported the highest number of catalytic converter thefts in the UK . Between 2021 and 2023 , just under 19,500 catalytic converters were stolen in the area . The London borough targeted the most for catalytic converter thefts is Barnet , with almost 1,600 catalytic converter thefts in the last three years .
Further across the country , Brentwood comes out as the area in the UK most targeted by car theft . The town has had 1.84 car thefts per 1,000 of its population . And , Eastbourne has had the largest increase in car thefts over the last nine financial years . From 2015 / 16 to 2023 / 24 , there has been an average increase of 28 % in car thefts in the town .
The car model most targeted by thieves is the Ford Fiesta . Over the last 12 months , from October 2022 to September 2023 , more than 6,000 Ford Fiesta were stolen in the UK . Black cars are the most commonly targeted by car thieves in the UK over the last 12 months , with just over 17,000 thefts .
Meanwhile the Isle of Anglesey is first place in the UK that that is least targeted by car thefts . During the current financial year , there have been just 0.03 car thefts per 1,000 of the population .
