KEEPING BIKES SAFE FOR CITY OF HULL AIR CADETS
» WHEN IT COMES TO keeping bicycles secure on the move , Burg-Wächter UK ’ s heavy duty 1600 HB D-locks are ideal . Now , fifteen of the sturdy and dependable bicycle security kits have been donated to the City of Hull Air Cadets through the company ’ s popular ‘ Secure Communities Scheme ’.
Burg-Wächter received an application from an adult volunteer working with the organisation for the freeof-charge support that the security specialist ’ s Secure Communities Scheme provides .
Flight Sergeant Samuel Parry , the volunteer and training officer with the City of
Hull Air Cadets who applied to the scheme explains : “ Many of our young people travel to us on bicycles , but our yard is open to the street , and we have recently seen a spate of bike thefts at our and our neighbouring unit . For many of our cadets , a bicycle is their primary means of transport not only in getting to us but also to school , so this will be a big help .”
The 1600 HB D-lock is easy to use : insert the key provided , remove the shackle , place it around a strong immovable object , and push it back into the lock body . It is available with a standard 210mm shackle or an extralong 280mm version for extra comments : “ We have valuable specialist items including waterskis , kayaks , boats , bikes and more . If this equipment were to be stolen it would be devastating , and as much of it is custom-built , it is extremely hard to replace . We ’ re therefore very grateful for Burg-Wächter ’ s donation .”
Having carefully assessed the charity ’ s security needs , Burg-Wächter came up with a package of locks including armoured steel block padlocks specially designed for the container type in which the equipment is housed ; combination locking cable for the premises ’ gates ; padlocks suitable for a ski locker , a front gate override and an electric box ; and a digital door lock with a ‘ hold back ’ function .
reach . The supplied bracket attaches easily to the bicycle frame , thereby making taking it on the move simple . It is independently tested and approved by Sold Secure ; and has been awarded ‘ Secured by Design ’ status by the official police initiative supporting crime reduction through good product design .
