MAINTENANCE & REPAIR
UPVC Repair Not Replace
In 2024, the Souber Tools Window Mechanism Opener and the Door Spreader Kit were released and have gone on to become industry standards when tackling failed UPVC mechanisms.
They didn’ t just solve problems— they changed mindset.
» THE KITS FOCUSED ON SAFELY creating a spread to access and release mechanisms. Allowing locksmiths to replace the mechanism without any damage to the window / door frame.
At the end of 2025, Souber Tools expanded that philosophy. Not with one tool, but with an interconnected range built around the most common failures in today’ s market: UPVC and composite systems.
Souber Tools Window Mechanism Advanced Kit
Rather than replacing the original system, it extends it— covering reverse shootbolt mechanisms and major brands
Basic Composite Door Inside Kit Laid Out such as Maco, Saracen and Yale. It also enables access to mushroom cams in extremely difficult positions.
Importantly, existing users can upgrade. A dedicated upgrade kit allows locksmiths to convert their original opener into the full Advanced Kit, complete with a new case to consolidate equipment.
Tackling Modern UPVC Failures— Without Defaulting to Destruction
• Souber Tools UPVC No Cam Door Kit
• Souber Tools UPVC Slotting Kit
• Souber Tools Tilt & Turn Kit
UPVC remains one of the most common materials in the UK housing stock— and one of the most frequent sources of failure.
Shootbolts seize. Hooks jam. Tilt & turn windows drop out of alignment. Mechanisms rust, snap or refuse to retract.
The 2025 additions focus squarely on these realities.
The UPVC‘ No Cam’ Door Kit addresses inward-opening doors without rollers or cams— allowing locksmiths to release or, if necessary, precisely cut failed hooks or deadbolts. Used alongside the Door Spreader Kit, it creates a controlled, handsfree gap to work safely and accurately.
The UPVC Slotting Kit takes things further. Built around a“ Backtrack” method, it is designed for mechanisms that simply will not release— ideal for shootbolt-only systems, rusted failures or smaller windows where conventional access isn’ t possible. By accessing the back of the sash through panel or unit removal, the process remains controlled rather than chaotic.
Meanwhile, the Tilt & Turn Kit continues the expansion of windowfocused solutions, addressing one of the more technically awkward modern systems. Instead of improvising with generic tools, locksmiths now have a purpose-built method.
