ALL ABOUT THE DOOR
• Misaligned or poorly maintained automatic doors – Automated doors that close too quickly, reverse unpredictably, or fail to detect obstructions can cause injury or block safe exits.
• Inadequate signage or emergency instructions – Even technically correct doors can be hazardous if staff or visitors cannot identify the correct exit quickly in a panic.
These issues are far from trivial. In a real emergency, they can stop people escaping safely. Lives are at risk, and the cost of cutting corners is far higher than that of doing the job correctly in the first place.
Why the Right Training Matters
Experience is important, but for safetycritical work, it is not always enough. Recognised training proves competence and reassures Responsible Persons that the work meets current safety and compliance standards.
The Master Locksmiths Association( MLA) actively supports locksmiths by providing practical, hands-on courses that build essential commercial skills,
improve professional confidence, and help them stay up to date with evolving regulations. Through MLA training, locksmiths gain the knowledge and certification needed to tackle challenging projects safely, expand their service offerings, and demonstrate their competence to clients and employers.
Electronic Security Fault Finding & Compliance
This course equips locksmiths with the skills and confidence to work safely and professionally on access control systems. Attendees learn basic electrical principles, how to identify and troubleshoot faults, and the correct use of tools and multimeters. The training also covers compliance with current standards, safe work on mains electricity, and a methodical approach to fault finding.
