VEHICLE SECURITY

Minimise Van Crime With Burg-Wächter

With a reliable van a necessity for many tradespeople, the latest van theft and break in statistics make for sobering reading. According to the RAC, every day in the UK over 30 vans are stolen with even more being broken into- on average 70 tool thefts from vans per day are reported- leaving an unfortunate trail of destruction and disruption in its wake, that needs to be quickly sorted out.
Feeling the impact of van theft
Often, profound and multi-layered, the cost of tools stolen from a van is only the beginning. Tools, which have often been accumulated over many years, represent a significant investment for any business, let alone a smaller enterprise and are essential for any tradesperson to carry out their daily work.
Of course, there is the immediate expense of replacing stolen tools and whilst insurance may cover some of the losses, it cannot account for the time spent dealing with an insurance company or the interim time without tools when projects may be delayed or even cancelled – leading to potentially significant loss of income for the affected tradesperson.
David Todd, Sales Director at Burg- Wächter said,“ A van break-in can have an incredibly destabilising effect on any tradesperson, with time required to rebuild their business as well as the often-overlooked long-term financial consequences, such as increased insurance premiums to be taken into account.
“ The practicalities are bad enough to deal with but there can also be a significant psychological impact for tradespeople affected by van theft or break in. Aside from the immediate shock, often the anxiety of possible further thefts lingers on which can have an adverse effect on their ability to work.
“ It’ s a situation that any tradesperson wants to avoid and with this in mind, it makes sense to ensure that their vans – and the essential and often expensive equipment that they contain – are protected with the best security solutions available.”
