» IN DECEMBER, THIS MORNING presenter Alice Beer shared valuable advice on her Instagram profile, urging her followers to save the contact number of their local MLA-approved locksmith in case of an emergency.
In early February, our advice was featured in a rogue locksmith story in The Observer, which was later picked up by The Guardian website.
We were also featured in the January 2025 issue of @ HomeStyle Magazine, where our Technical Manager, Justin Freeman, provided expert insights in the article“ The Lowdown on Locks,” discussing important considerations for door security.
In March 2025, BBC This Morning highlighted a rise in rogue locksmiths, as reported by the Master Locksmiths Association. Due to the increase in scam locksmiths, the BBC revisited their 2023 feature on the topic, offering helpful tips on how to avoid being scammed by rogue locksmiths in the future.
Later that month, MoneySupermarket published an article addressing the growing reports of rogue locksmiths, which included advice from us on how to protect yourself from scams.
Sold Secure
The MLA not only benefits from its own TV coverage, but our partnership with Sold Secure has also led to several recent TV features.
On Monday, February 17th, 2025, BBC Morning Live highlighted Sold Secure in a segment about car theft, where they mentioned Sold Secure being owned by the Master Locksmiths Association. With car theft rates on the rise, the importance of additional security is more critical than ever. However, as the programme pointed out, not all security devices are equally effective— some can be bypassed in seconds. A Sold Secure Approved product can make a real difference, significantly delaying thieves from breaking through your steering lock.
On Wednesday, March 12th, 2025, Channel 5’ s Scams: Don’ t Get Caught Out featured Sold Secure in a segment testing cycle locks. With over 60,000 cycle thefts reported annually in the UK, choosing the right security has never been more crucial. Guy McCaffery, our Lab Manager, and Luke, our Lab Technician, demonstrated that not all locks are created equal— some can be broken in seconds! Opting for a Sold Secure Approved product can make a significant difference by greatly delaying thieves. Great to see the footage from outside MLA HQ with our MLA logo.
