No one wants to feel powerless; we all want to be at 100%,
but how often do we find ourselves running on empty?
W
ork, home, kids, studies, family, bills, and
everything in between! Much of our time
is spent putting out fires or trudging through
situations, mired with red tape, in the hope of
making these areas of our lives problem-free. Why? Because it takes away our sense of control.
No control = frustration = fear = powerlessness.
Many of the most exasperating situations in life
involve events where it seems the person has no
say about what is to come. But what if they had the power all along? Just
because a person may feel powerless doesn’t
mean that it is true. Choice exists even when
nothing is done. After all, choosing to do nothing
and hoping for the best is still a choice in itself.
While we do well to achieve success in this
regard, there always tends to be that one
niggling or reoccurring issue that leaves us
feeling tired, drained, frustrated, and powerless. When the power to dictate what happens next —
choice — is non-existent, a person, no matter how
good-willed, educated, or full of potential they may
be, can easily find himself/herself running on empty. Irrespective of how your life is at present, you
have a choice. Close this paper and continue
as you were, or have an open mind to see if it
contains the key to unlocking your true power.
I found the power to get back up again
My dreams shattered along with my self-esteem when my relationship fell apart.
I was in the UK, in an unfamiliar country, I didn’t speak English, I had no source
of income, and my visa was about to expire. I felt lost and wanted to give up
all together.
At the UCKG, I found the strength to keep going. I spoke to an adviser, and
I was encouraged to attend meetings like the Day of Power. After acting on
the advice and keeping faith, I received permanent residency in the UK and,
today, I am happily married to the one that was meant for me.
