2 LOCAL NEWS | UCKG.ORG | 020 7686 6000 EDITOR’S NOTE / FINANCES WHAT DOES FAITH have to do with intelligence? Is there life BEYOND FAILURE? After graduating from university, getting into her chosen industry seemed almost impossible for Kelejatu Tarawalie. She had no experience and her job was not even closely related to the course she had studied. ‘I Faith is one of the most powerful and mysterious forces. There is no denying that it has various benefits for human beings, including physical ones. M ore than 1,200 studies have found evidence that faith brings health benefits, including fast recovery from illness. Faith has the power to encourage people, to stimulate them, to make them happier and more optimistic. It’s like Wi- Fi; it’s invisible but it has the power to connect you to what you need. But faith without action does not work. It is not enough to have faith and sit down without lifting a finger, simply waiting for everything to fall into place. If faith is not followed by action, it is not intelligent. To have intelligent faith is to believe that you will achieve your goal and overcome any barrier that may arise while being aware that you also must do your part – what is within your reach – for God to do His part – what is beyond your reach. In this newspaper, you will read real stories of people who have used their faith intelligently and were able to turn their life around. After reading them and drawing your own conclusions, you are invited to learn more about this method at one of our daily sessions (check out our timetable on page 15). Are you ready to try something new? Source: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/health/news/8480505/Faith-good-for-your-health.html failed my first year of university, so achieving the highest grade in Business and Education was a miracle for me, however, I was finding it hard to find my dream job. I was working in an average job with an average wage and no chances for progression, and the role was not challenging enough for me. I was also attending the Monday meetings at the UCKG and these meetings opened my vision for both my financial life and my career. I then decided to change that situation and pursue my dream. I began imagining my life in a completely different way. Normally, after graduating, many people go into graduate jobs where they work long hours for little pay to gain experience, but I didn’t want that. Even though I did not have much experience, the meetings encouraged me to go for what I wanted. I believed that doors would be opened for me so I started applying for jobs in that field – even jobs that were way out of my league. Not only did the Monday meetings build my faith, but they also encouraged me to put the work in. I completely changed my CV, including experiences and qualities about myself that matched my career choice. I was also reading and gaining more knowledge about what I wanted to go into because as I had learned, faith without work is dead. I received many rejections but I would remember the messages from the meetings to keep going no matter how bad the situation looked. I kept acting on my faith, believing that I could achieve great things. Shortly after, a door opened. I was invited for an interview, which went really well, and I was later offered the job! My career today reminds me of God’s existence. I have the freedom and flexibility to manage myself in what I do. After just three months of being in my role, I was given the opportunity to progress further. Each day brings new opportunities and challenges and I know it’s only the beginning!’ Kelejatu Tarawalie Why not try what worked for Kelejatu?
