He was born in Lyon , France in 1900 and he dies for a shoot for an aleman in the wing of his plane on the 31 of July in 1944 ., he was married with Consuelo de Saint-Exupéry and they never had a children . He considered himself a pilot above all else . He ew everything from cartography missions to commercial airlines for 20 years . Antoine Marie Jean-Baptiste Roger Count de Saint-Exupéry ( June 29 , 1900 , Lyon - July 31 , 1944 , near the Mediterranean Sea ), better known as Antoine de Saint-Exupéry , was a French aviator and a writer characterized by a rigorous prose full of rhetoric , lyricism and adventure , known worldwide for the popular work The Little Prince and for a short work in which his experiences as a pilot were his source of inspiration . After receiving education in various religious schools , at the end of his secondary studies he tries to enter the Naval Academy , but does not pass the entrance exams . In 1920 he completed his military service in the Air Force , thanks to which he learned the pilot ' s trade , and from then on aviation became the great passion of his life .
