a note from the editor

Blessed to live in a community that values childhood

It has been such a pleasure putting together this edition of the Little
Pages . I love that it gives me the opportunity to meet business people in our city who are passionate about what they do . When people pursue their passions with excellence , they bring value to our community as a whole , as they share their skills and knowledge .
An old pic of my son and I ! will update next time , been a little crazy lately :)
One such person is Jacqui Zeelie ( on the cover ) who will be opening a new independent school in Heatherbank next year . Her years of experience working with young children has inspired her to take a step of faith as she establishes the Capstone School . The ethos behind the school is truly inspiring and just listening to their approach to education will make you want to be a child again . Imagine attending school within a farm environment where things like fi shing and collecting eggs become part of the learning experience !
The Little Pages is all about celebrating family life in our city . This is the third edition of our magazine , and the more we are on the look out for content and local businesses catering to families , the more we discover ( just as we thought ) that Port Elizabeth is a wonderful place to raise children . I enjoyed writing the article about winter holiday outing ideas , and have personally visited each of the places on the list .
Our recent visit to the Londt Park Mini Trains on a sunny winter day filled me with an appreciation for a community that values childhood . Seeing families out and about enjoying themselves , dads sitting astride the mini locomotives like there was nothing they would rather be doing , put a genuine smile on my face .
We hope that you enjoy this edition and we welcome your feedback . Don ’ t forget to visit our website www . thelittlepages . co . za for our full selection of online parenting resources .

Hi , I picked up your magazine in PE ( I am from Port Alfred ) and read it from cover to cover !! It ’ s been a while since I ’ ve done that ! I ’ m a mom of a 2 year old and have another one on the way , so I am always on the lookout for new things to do and places to go with my boy .
I so enjoyed seeing what was available to moms in PE , and followed your link to the Little Pages website , which to my delight had a huge collection of places to go and things to do . Thank you for a magazine full of local information as well as inspiring stories from real moms .
I ’ ve always enjoyed birth stories , and so enjoyed the honesty and realness in the “ real moms ” birth stories article . Really looking forward to reading the next one . Mary-Jane Smith , Port Alfred
