STEAM !

STEAM is to STEM education as color TV was to Black and White TV . It turns learning into a vibrant experience .

The A stands for the broad spectrum of the arts going well beyond aesthetics ; it includes the liberal arts , formally folding in Language Arts , Social Studies , Physical Arts , Fine Arts & Music that each shape developments in STEM fields .
The traditional education model focuses on one dimensional learning . Students collect information from a textbook , and they are asked to focus on teachers delivering lectures . These two entities are the main source for acquiring knowledge . Student interaction is limited to teacher and textbook with testing as the only measure of formal assessment . STEAM education is a model for teaching that is based on natural ways of learning . Students learn subject material by seeing it action , interacting with content which helps them absorb more meaningful information and deepens their connection to the material . It opens up more opportunities for assessment , and ensuring they will remember more beyond a traditional test .
We are an arts school because the arts help scholars build confidence , develop motor skills , and hone their decision making and problem solving skills . Incorporating a Science , Technology , Engineering and Math to an arts school compliments and prepares scholars all the more since these areas of study encourage students to create , innovate , and collaborate .
An interdisciplinary approach to education takes learning from the front of the classroom , and disperses it among the scholars . STEAM ties ALL subjects together in a collaborative way , and prepares scholars for the full spectrum of the rapidly changing business and professional world . The STEAM model is a real-life approach to educating that is relevant and beneficial to all types of learners .
