my father had promised me the night before, so I gulped my food down so fast I didn’t have time to enjoy the flavor. “So are we still going for your first driving lesson today?” my father asked. I nodded at him wide eyed and full of excitement. I was supposed to have my first driving lesson with him after school and I was dying to get behind the wheel of his big dark blue truck. I ran to my room to get dressed and ran equally as fast to the bus stop. All the kids were bundled up with big jackets and fluffy scarves to shield themselves from the harsh winter bane. Minutes seemed to take hours and hours turned to weeks as I sat in Mrs. Goto’s 6th grade class. When the bell rang it was music to my ears. I leaped from my seat and sped off through the door quicker than my teacher could notice. My father was waiting for me in his favorite spot, sprawled along the couch watching the afternoon news. I decided to ride my bike while I waited for him.
