WINTER ' FOURTEEN
Like a silver cloud of wings—a gauzy
lace—insects descend, settle upon us like
alien fog. It is useless to run. And we cannot
hide. So we hold hands, kneeling in a wide
circle, each of us praying to our Creator.
The liquid moon shimmers as I close my
eyes waiting to be dissolved.
