Location: Bay Pond Educational Reserve, Godstone High Street, Godstone, Surrey, RH9 8DT Monday 4th November 10am to 3pm Priest Hill - Monthly site maintenance Join SWT staff and volunteers to protect this rare chalk grassland reserve, an important habitat for the small blue butterfly. Location: Priest Hill, Reigate Road, Epsom, Surrey, KT17 3BZ Naturally, working outside has lots of health benefits. It gives you regular exercise and is a lot cheaper than the gym. But donating your experience and skills helps you develop in other ways too. Jane hasn’t looked back since discovering Surrey Wildlife Trust “Having lived in Surrey all my life I think it is a great county and one that is often overlooked. I had some time on my hands and wanted to do some- thing to care for the county and its wildlife. Little did I know just how much I would enjoy the experience and how much I would learn. Volunteering is now part of my weekly routine.” Victoria has also noticed another effect of volunteering. “There’s such a range of characters, which leads to lots of banter. And the more fun we have, the more we get done.” Indeed, research shows that volunteering builds empathy, strengthens social bonds – and makes you smile.
