Splendour in

the Grass

Byron Bay, Australia — June 29-July 6

The tour de music ends down under, with Splendour in the Grass in Byron Bay. Though the festival takes place in the winter months for Australia, it still draws almost 30,000 music fans and renowned artists too. The festival, which began in 2001, occurs at the same time as the Fuji Rock Festival in Japan, but rather than limiting artists to play at only one festival, they traditionally hop between both. The release of the Fuji Rock Festival lineup always sparks rumors about the Splendour in the Grass artists. The location is on the east side of Australia, located off the Coral Sea. Festivalgoers have the option of camping in their own accommodations at the festival or “glamping” during the festival, with the campground options called Tent City, Tepee Life and Flashcamp.

Byron Bay itself offers an experience, with majestic views of mountains and waterfalls, all open for exploration. The town is also home to the Byron Bay Bluesfest and the Byron writers and film festivals. It’s a town of yoga and free-spirits, and when the stars light up the sky on your last night at the festival, you’ll see why.
