This festival first put the “flowered headband” on our radar, and it’s sticking with florals. Bold, floral prints on flowy dresses and tops — especially maxi skirts — cropped up in Indio last year. As did crop tops, and we don’t see shirts falling back to normal length anytime soon. Shield your face from the desert sun with a large floppy hat and big, fun sunglasses. For men, funky, printed tank tops paired with cropped pants or colorful shorts works well.

Oh, Lolla, where crop tops have migrated even more north. Women rocked bikini and bra tops with cutoff shorts while singing along to bands in Grant Park. Converse sneakers were the shoe of choice. For men, the look is all about layers. Take a pair of skinny, colorful pants, add a bright tank, layer with a chambray short sleeve buttonup, and tie another button-up around your waist. You’ll be ready for temperature changes, and to help the poor girl next to you wearing practically her underwear keep warm.
Last year’s festival brought rain, mud and more mud. But the New Yorkers still managed to keep their fashion sense, pairing sturdy Hunter rain boots with cut-off jean shorts and graphic print tees. To the girls who wore their favorite flowy white sundresses — we hope you had a Tide-to-go pen at the ready for the millions of moments when mud splashed up on you. For men, cutoff vintage graphic tees and hybrid boots/high tops will do. And, as always, rich prints can make any outfit city chic. Don't shy away from metallics!
