Coachella | Indio, Calif. April 12-14, April 19-21
fest by fest
Where rap meets rock: One week isn't enough for the fest in Indio, Calif., which spreads over two weekend in early April. Headliners included Blur, The Stone Roses, Phoenix and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. The most talked about moment from the event? The unlikely duet of Phoenix and R&B star R. Kelly, mixing "1901" with "Ignition." Rapper 2 Chainz brought a new mix to his set too, joining Fall Out Boy for a rendition of "My Songs Know What You Did."

Mumford wants silence: The festival in Chicago’s Grant Park brought in Kendrick Lamar, Mumford & Sons and other big-name acts to the Windy City. The highlights: crowdsurfing during Kendrick's set, Mumford & Sons asking the crowd to quiet down so they could perform an acoustic cover of “I’m on Fire” by Bruce Springsteen, and homemade signs praising the then-celeb train wreck Amanda Bynes. The Postal Service — the band that brought us the catchy opening track for the show "Grey's Anatomy" — reunited on stage. They played the hit song, as well as a new track called "Turn Around." Kendrick Lamar brought his vibe to the Windy City, and the audience responded back. A young man in a wheelchair was lifted above the crowd during his set, according to Billboard, to which Lamar eloquently responded: "Oh shit, look at that dude in the wheelchair. Y'all some crazy motherfucker fans." Yes, Kendrick, they are some crazy motherfucker fans.
