VICTORIANS PRO STEAM
Jarrow March Song
My name is Johnny, Johnny Lee,
I am off to make Baldwin see,
Just how desperate we poor men are;
Victorian people with steam were happy about the industrial revolution. This
because they didn’t want to pay people for working on their farms and
within their weavers cottages. Using steam, cloth could be produced 50
times faster than with out steam. Using steam food , drink, clothes could get
to places 100 times faster.
There are no jobs, near or far.
Chorus
Woke up this morning,
Just keep, keep marching,
Feet are, are aching,
Got many miles ahead.
Vote yes for steam
Victorians anti steam
My name is Peter, Peter Reed,
One fifty’s barely enough to feed,
My four children and my wife,
If Stanley won’t listen then bless my life!
Chorus
Woke up this morning,
Just keep, keep marching,
Feet are, are aching,
Got many miles ahead.
My name is Thomas, Thomas Brown,
I am leaving, leaving town,
We’re given food and shelter along the way,
The people are kind: we don’t have to pay.
Chorus
Woke up this morning,
Just keep, keep marching,
Feet are, are aching,
Got many miles ahead.
My name is Charlie, Charlie Jones,
Without my food I’m skin and bones!
Eighty percent of men are unemployed,
My daily routine is now destroyed.
Chorus
Woke up this morning,
Just keep, keep marching,
Feet are, are aching,
Got many miles ahead.
Victorian people who were anti steam were against the
industrial revolution, because a lot of them would lose their
jobs in weavers cottages. 45% of the country didn’t want
steam in their lives because they wouldn’t get paid as much.
The wages in factories were much less than they got paid
in their daily lives of man powered machinery.
Vote no to steam

LIFE AS A YEAR 6
Year 6 is really fun. Mr Tyrrell, my Form Teacher, lets us play games in the
morning. We were working on a World War 2 puzzle and it was a 1000
piece puzzle. Mrs Hughes, my English teacher, makes most of the lessons
fun - she doesn’t mind us talking but she really doesn’t like us
SHOUTING. Mrs Sweeting is a nice teacher because if you are a boarder
she is really nice and helps you not get that upset. Mr Parker is one of
the funniest teachers I have ever met - when you are on register duty or
going to ask him a question he always has a joke with you. In my opinion
Year 6 has been the best year yet.
