his has been a busy year at the Morehead Library! Thanks to the Verizon Innovative Learning Schools - Digital Promise Grant, all students at Morehead have received an iPad. We are also one of three International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme schools.

These two programs have increased the importance of the library at Morehead. Lessons have been focused on teaching the students how to use technology safely, effectively, and creatively. Library lessons have included: Finding and Using Ebooks, Making the Most Out of Encyclopaedia Britannica Online, How Inference and Riddles Go Hand in Hand, Holiday Song Synonyms, and Creating Bibliographies for Book Resources. Each lesson included at least one component of technology, such as teaching accessibility from the iPads, utilizing Padlets, working with a NearPod lesson, or downloading Excel spreadsheets from OneDrive. I think I have learned as much as the students!

On November 17, we were privileged to host Tom Fremantle, author of Pancho’s Song. He shared experiences of his travels and read a bit of his book to a library full of delighted students. This visit was courtesy of the El Paso Community Foundation. We greatly appreciate their support of education! Here is a Tweet from the author visit.
