SCOOBY-DOO! A MERRY SCARY HOLIDAY by Lee Howard. (Grades 3-5) This graphic novel is the second in a series of 4 books. The Scooby-Doo gang is headed Daphne’s uncle’s house in Winter Hollow for their Christmas holiday. A snow monster is on the loose and could ruin Christmas. The Scooby-Doo gang is determined to get to the bottom of this mystery. The artwork is colorful and has the familiar Scooby-Doo characters. The speech bubbles are easy-to-read and the sequencing is easy to follow. Recommended by Annette Schatzman

PATCH by David Slonim. (Grades 1-2) A boy shares three stories about his dog, Patch. Patch can be easy to take care of sometimes, and sometimes not so much. The stories show a bond shared between a boy and his dog. This is a delightful story and the artwork is simple and colorful.. Recommended by Annette Schatzman

BEATRICE SPELLS SOME LULUS AND LEARNS TO WRITE A LETTER by Cari Best. (Grades 4-5) Beatrice discovers the joy of spelling and she wants all her friends to get excited about it too. She starts a Spelling Club, but none of her classmates want to join. With a little help and encouragement from her grandmother along with a bright idea, Beatrice entices her class to find that spelling is not boring. A clever and charming book. Recommended by Annette Schatzman

LOULA IS LEAVING FOR AFRICA by Anne Villeneuve. (Grades 1-2) Loula is tired of her mean, horrible, stinky brothers and she is going to travel to Africa. Gilbert, the family chauffeur, watches Loula as she leaves the house and is starting her journey. Gilbert helps Loula pretend she is traveling to Africa and, at the end of the day, Loula is ready for Gilbert to take her home. Overall a sweet story in overcoming anger. Recommended by Annette Schatzman

NINJA! by Arree Chung (K-3) In this fun, entertaining, and graphic novel styled picture book, Maxwell is a ninja. He sneaks, creeps, tumbles, and hides his way into facing many dangers. He surprise attacks his sleeping father, he defeats his dog "the angry beast,", and he must go into enemy territory to capture the cookies and milk sitting on the countertop in the kitchen. When he upsets his little sister, he is dishonored, and he is sent to his room. All is well again when he realizes he will teach his sister the way of the ninja. He says
