We are also celebrating Chinese New Year on January 28 all week at the library. The Year of the Rooster is this year, 2017. We're giving out Chinese Zodiac Calendar Bookmarks taken from ActivitiesForKids.com.

We're having a coloring contest . Each day of the week students come in and color a different rooster. They are displayed on our art bulletin boards. More students than expected are participating and are already turning in their pages. Three judges will decide the best one and will win a beautiful, red, 150-paged, lined journal .

Ms. Gaenzle posts both on Twitter and on the circulation desk her book recommendations daily. On this day, she recommended "Macbeth #killingit", a retelling of Shakespeare's Macbeth in text and emoji format. It's hilarious and even more so if you've read the original play. These books and others Bonnie recommendsare frequently checked out.

Lastly, we were inspired by another school and bought school-colored chess pieces of Purple and Gold. They are triple-weighted which helps with set up and clean up. They have been a hit! The game tables are always full before school, during lunch, and after school.
