Importance of Education
We are all part of the world's global community. Isn't it time we started acting like it? With advances in technology, media expansion, the influx of trade and prevalence of diversity, we might as well be educated in the global culture if we're already immersed in it.
Deriving my own beginnings from a multicultural household and community, it occurs to me that it is necessary to understand the complexities and differences within our environment, so that we may embrace and improve it.
If an earthquake ruptures in China, genocide occurs in Guatemala, or a Hurricane sweeps the United States, it is pertinent to not only those local communities, but affects people on an international scale. Although we are not singular; we are one.
This is why The Lens seeks to educate and inspire our readers, by expanding their knowledge of the world, and ingraining within them a deeper sense of wit and humanity. The stories within this publication include life's dark and light realities. They also feature stories of those who have set exemplary roles in ameliorating society.
Perhaps you will be inspired to make similar changes after reading this issue; if you can put it down that is.
