THE CWA wants Tasmanians to get their teeth into cannabis cookies and cupcakes . By Roger Hanson Mercury April 2018
Hemp is the CWA ' s Tasmanian product of the year and members are promoting ways to grow . cook . Sew and craft with the versatile plant .
The CWA stall at Agfest at Carrick on May 3-5 highlighted products made from hemp . Members also knitted and crocheted more than 5000 poppies for the 2018 Centenary of Armistice with a display at Agfest .
But the Country Women ' s Association has not gone potty - it is promoting the benefits of industrial hemp , which is not a drug .
CWA Tasmania president Lindy Cleeland , of Orielton , said hemp could be used many ways . “ 1 am passionate about CWA and want to take as many people as I can along the path of what the organisation can do for personal development ." Mrs Cleeland said .
There about 25.000 CWA members nationally with the numbers growing .
“ Each year our members work on a country of study , with this year ' s chosen country being Papua New Guinea , with information being on display at Agfest ," Mrs Cleeland said .
This year ‘ s C WA ' s fundraising cause is for Missiondale . one of Tasmania ' s residential sites for treatment of addictions .
