Hemp is the CWA ' s Tasmanian product of the year and members are promoting ways to grow. cook. Sew and craft with the versatile plant.
The CWA stall at Agfest at Carrick on May 3-5 highlighted products made from hemp. Members also knitted and crocheted more than 5000 poppies for the 2018 Centenary of Armistice with a display at Agfest.
But the Country Women ' s Association has not gone potty- it is promoting the benefits of industrial hemp, which is not a drug.
CWA Tasmania president Lindy Cleeland, of Orielton, said hemp could be used many ways.“ 1 am passionate about CWA and want to take as many people as I can along the path of what the organisation can do for personal development." Mrs Cleeland said.
There about 25.000 CWA members nationally with the numbers growing.
“ Each year our members work on a country of study, with this year ' s chosen country being Papua New Guinea, with information being on display at Agfest," Mrs Cleeland said.
