Heavy weight helps gain muscle, while lighter weight helps tone. Legs are just as important as arms, you just dont see the progress as much. If you skip a rep your cheating yourself. If you do ten sets of five reps, and skip a rep on each set, thats ten reps you missed. Don't skip out on core or anything else. A lot of people dont do core but it is important.
