Spring Park draws guests from lake
Its restaurants and downtown business district are drawing residents to Spring Park from all around Lake Minnetonka . But when they arrive on shore , there ’ s much more than initially meets the eye .
Boaters flock to popular lakeside restaurants like Lord Fletcher ’ s and when they get on land , there ’ s plenty to explore away from the lake . Spring Park has two parks for citizens and its nearly 1,700 residents to enjoy . Thor Thomas Park is located at Sunset Drive ( County Road 51 ) and Park Lane , and Wilkes Park is located one block south of Shoreline Drive on Old Channel Road , and one block west of Interlachen Boulevard .
The city is always experiencing new development , including the arrival of Back Channel Brewing on the shores of Seton Channel . Spring Park is also the boat launch at the Hennepin County Sheriff ’ s Water Patrol headquarters , redone in 2015 . There are currently plans to construct a hotel within the city , along the lake .
The current of tourism has run strong throughout the history of Spring Park . The city ’ s tourism history began when James J . Hill ’ s Great Northern Railroad extended to Spring Park in 1882 . The historic Hotel Del Otero was built in Spring Park in 1887 , only to burn down in 1945 .
