3–4 May 2018, Buenos Aires, Argentina
There has been a rapid increase in jurisdictions in which competition law regimes not only exist but are actively
enforced. This includes a number of Latin American countries which have seen a substantial evolution in their
competition policies and increased levels of enforcement.
Global and regional cooperation among authorities has played a significant role in making enforcement more effective.
The sharing of best practices, in particular within the context of the International Competition Network, has led to
improvements in enforcement procedures and investigative techniques, including leniency programmes.
At the same time, greater awareness among governments and civil societies of the benefits of vigorously enforcing
competition law has given the work of competition authorities significant public exposure.
All this makes it increasingly important to keep up-to-date with local as well as global developments in the legal
framework, administrative practices and the evolution of case law.
This conference will analyse key legislative and administrative trends in global competition law, with a focus on recent
developments in Latin America. It is aimed at enforcers, practitioners, counsel, academics and others with an interest in
competition law and its enforcement.
Topics will include:
• Antitrust compliance • Due process issues
• Cartel enforcement • Loyalty discounts and rebates
• Cooperation among agencies • Market definition in dynamic/changing sectors
