ORIANA PYSYK RETURNS AS COACH
By Grace Scott - Director of Athletics
O
riana Pysyk is an alumna who played on the women’s
volleyball team at King’s from 2004-2006 and 2007-2009.
As an athlete, Oriana always led by example. She understood
that the best way to be a leader was to model a strong work
ethic and to be an encouragement to her team. As a captain,
she was not afraid to challenge her teammates and hold them
accountable to a higher standard.
Throughout her time at King’s, Oriana played with integrity
and consistency. She also brought a great deal of passion
and intensity to the court, which in turn inspired those around
her to want to improve as well. Oriana’s determination and
commitment were outstanding as she contributed significantly
to the success of our program. During her volleyball career
she broke numerous school records, was a member of the
ACAC All Conference team twice, and received the team’s
Most Valuable Player Award and Leadership Award in
her last two years. She was not only a talented athlete
who demonstrated both discipline and character, but
she was also very concerned with achieving academic
excellence as well.
While pursuing her Masters degree the past two years at
the University of Calgary, Oriana has been patiently waiting
for the opportunity to return to Edmonton and be involved
in coaching. We consider it a privilege to have Oriana join
our staff for this coming fall and look forward to having her
involved in our program. Oriana is a natural coach who even
as a captain was always helping her teammates both technically
and tactically. We are very excited to have her back at King’s!
